Hope it’s useful to someone! Sorry I can’t provide any support if you try it, but recommendations and improvements are welcome from anybody with more Automator stamina than me! All I can say is that it works nicely on my Mac running High Sierra (10.13.6). #Create booklet in pages from 8.5 x 11 paper pdf#Make Booklet PDF on desktop.zip (for pre-Monterey Macs) You should be able to double-click it and open it in Automator if you want to see what’s inside, but I think if you put it into your ~/Library/Services folder within your home directory, it will probably just appear as a service if you right-click on a PDF file in the Finder. #Create booklet in pages from 8.5 x 11 paper zip file#So, here’s a zip file containing the Automator script. You can then delete the ‘booklet-pages’ folder. In here, it will create one PDF for each page of your document.įinally, it will work out what order these pages should be in, and create a new ‘booklet.pdf’ on your desktop with the pages reassembled in that order. Then when you run the script, it will create a folder called ‘booklet-pages’ on your desktop. The script will warn you if your page count isn’t right. Select the last page and choose ‘Edit > Insert > Blank Page’ as often as needed and then save. Fortunately, you can easily append blank pages in Preview if needed. ![]() (Note too that if you’re reading this in 2022 or later, you definitely want to continue on to read the updates at the bottom of the post!)įirst, the number of pages in your starting PDF must be a multiple of 4. #Create booklet in pages from 8.5 x 11 paper install#It does, however, have a few useful ways of manipulating PDFs without having to install anything else, and my script will at least prompt you with some of the following information when you run it. Now, please note: You should understand how this works before trying it! It’s not complex, and I could have made it much prettier and self-explanatory, but I was using Automator, which is so far from a real programming language as to be frustrating.

The game hasn't even been released yet and we are already seeing the fruits of this thing called user-created content as it applies to Spore. It is extremely easy to make something that looks good with the tool, and seeing your creature come to life as you add elements to it is both exciting and immediately rewarding. Playing with the Creature Creator was one of the most amazing play experiences I have ever had, and I'm looking forward to playing with it some more. I was fortunate enough to be selected to try out the creature creator ahead of time, and I spent the entire weekend last week making creatures with it ( warning: it's highly addictive). ![]() You can also take pictures of your creatures within the "Test Drive" portion of the editor (screenshots included here), or take movies and upload your movies directly to YouTube from within the Creature Creator(!) Your creatures are automatically animated based on the spine and appendages you've given it. Sharing creatures is therefore exceptionally easy, and brilliantly implemented. Creatures are embedded into a 32KB image (PNG) of the creature that contains all of the data necessary to load it back into the editor. With the Creature Creator you can, of course, create and edit new creatures, and you can save them and share them with others, too. There is a demo available that is free, but it comes with only a small subset of what's available in the full version. One of those tools is being released today, the Spore Creature Creator, and it can be yours for about 10 bucks. ![]() The Spore team accomplishes this by putting powerful and easy-to-use tools to create elements of the Spore universe in the hands of the masses. One of Spore's most touted and talked about features is how it leverages user-created content to populate the countless planets within the Spore universe. The game is the brainchild of Will Wright, the father of SimCity and the Sims, and judging from what we've seen of this game so far, we're in for one heck of a ride. ![]() ![]() The writing of Drakengard 3 is the most important part for me, so let’s start there. Now, if you haven’t played the game (or honestly, even if you have) you’re probably thinking something like “Luna? What are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense!!!” So, let me try to explain myself a little more.īranch A – Verse 1 – In Which Luna Discusses Drakengard 3’s Writing And How Horny It Is (VERY) In that sense, it’s probably one of the worst games I’ve ever played. The general takeaway from it was “Drakengard 3 is really good” and it is! It’s one of my favorite games of all time! But at the same time, it’s some of the least enjoyment I’ve ever gotten out of a game. So when I read through my review over and over, I agreed with it, but also I disagreed. My Drakengard 3 review followed a similar structure, and the reason it didn’t really work was that each aspect of Drakengard 3 is hard to nail down as good or bad, for me, almost all of them are simultaneously good and bad. The point of a review, in my opinion, is to go over a lot of the aspects of a game, talk about whether each one is good or bad, and then give your final opinion on the game… or something along those lines. “Drakengard 3 is amazingly written.” Absolutely!Īll of these statements are true to me in some way. “Drakengard 3 is horribly written.” Sure is! “Drakengard 3 is one of the worst games ever made.” Mhm! “Drakengard 3 is one of the best games ever made.” Yep! The thing about this game is that you could make literally any (subjective) statement and I’d agree. I somehow figured out what was wrong with the review.ĭrakengard 3 is not a game that can be adequately reviewed. I’ve been thinking about Drakengard/NieR a lot, what with the recent announcement of the NieR Replicant remaster (!!!), and finally, it clicked. What was it about this game that made it so hard to write about for me? Why couldn’t I satisfy myself with the review? These questions and more plagued me for months on end. I had other things to write about, I could focus on that later.Īnd yet, Drakengard 3 continued to compel me. So I left it alone and did so for months. No matter how many times I read it over (probably 30+ times) I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I actually disliked about the review. Yet, I was still dissatisfied… but why? I agreed with everything I said, none of it was wrong or glaringly badly written, it was, all in all, competent. According to some of the other Story Arc members who read it over for me, it was actually mostly quite good. The review wasn’t badly written, if I do say so myself. I wrote (most of) a review a long time ago, and for reasons I couldn’t quite place, I was… dissatisfied with it. This is actually the second time I’ve tried writing about it. ![]() Ever since I finished it back in like… Last November, I’ve had a strong compulsion to put my thoughts out somewhere to fully sort them out. Finally, Square are also holding a haiku contest over Twitter, and plan to give copies of the Japanese collector’s edition of Drakengard 3 away as prizes.Drakengard 3 is a game I’ve been really REALLY wanting to talk about for a while. ($0.99 each)Īdditionally, a trailer for all the DLC released thus far can be viewed above. PlayStation Themes: A Wave 3 pre-order bonus for Drakengard 3, these PSN themes prominently feature Zero, Mikhail and the four Disciples (Cent, Octa, Decadus and Dito) on players’ PlayStation 3 dashboards. ![]()
